JERUSALEM — BDE: The town of Eli has announced that Major (res.) Amisar Ben David, a resident of the Yovel neighborhood of the town, was killed in action in Gaza over Shabbat

He was 43, and served as an officer in the commando units’ command center. He is survived by his wife Shlomit and five children.

Ariel Elmaliach, the mayor of Eli, stated: “Amisar and I learned together in the premilitary academy ‘Bnei David’ in Eli, and the news of his death was like a knife in the heart. Amisar had a heart full of kindness and helping others, and served for years as the head of the town’s MDA team.”

“His death is a painful loss for our town. We share the pain of Shlomit and their children, as well as all the Ben-David family. May his memory be blessed.”

Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich mourned Ben-David, who was his cousin.

“My dear cousin and hero of Israel fell in battle in Gaza. We grew up together with a a strong and special connection. Vacations, Shabbat, trips, simchos. What a man. What pain. There are no words.”

Amisar, who was a school teacher in civilian life, is the eighteenth student of the Bnei David pre-military academy to be killed in action since the war broke out.

The levaya will take place at Har Herzl military cemetery on Sunday at 1 PM.
