WILLIAMSBURG (VINnews/Sandy Eller) – A 59 year old Williamsburg woman who was struck by a hit and run driver nearly three weeks ago passed away today from her injuries.

Leah Kohn, the wife of Shmiel Menachem Kohn, was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition on November 28th after the accident occurred at the intersection of Kent Avenue and Taylor Street.

Police said that Kohn, a mother and a grandmother, was hit by a motorist in a dark colored vehicle who was driving east in the westbound lanes of Kent Avenue and was attempting to turn north on Taylor Street.

The driver fled the scene and has yet to be located, according to an NYPD source.

Mrs. Kohn was the long-time secretary at Bais Rochel High School in Williamsburg, with generations of students remembering her warmth and understanding.
