Last week, AOC said something absurd (not the first time). She claimed that the reason that shoplifting is so rampant is because the expanded child tax credit expired.

Her bizarre logic (or lack thereof) goes like this: People are stealing baby formula. So the reason must be because the government is not paying them money to have children.

Her comments are ludicrous for so many reasons. But as I explained on my podcast, the core problem is that she is justifying criminal behavior, while blaming the government, who stopped giving out welfare checks.

Ocasio’s argument boils down to this: “Of course people are stealing. What do you expect them to do? Work? The government stopped giving them free checks. It’s OUR fault they are stealing, because cruelly we cut off their welfare money.”

This is how modern-day Democrats think, and it’s terrifying. When people steal, rather than having the nerve to blame them, we justify their behavior, because the rich are not giving them enough free stuff.

It goes further. This insane vicious cycle has been strategically designed to advance the socialist agenda. First they expand welfare programs, in this case, the tax credit, to get the country addicted to free stuff. (Incidentally, it’s not even a tax credit, because millions of families get it even though they don’t pay a dime in taxes. It’s welfare, plain and simple.)

The program expires, and the Democrats blame crime, drug use, and other egregious behavior on the program expiring. This becomes the impetus to renew the program, because it’s the Republicans’ fault that low-income people are stealing things and doing drugs.

AOC is proudly admitting this. OF COURSE people are stealing. It’s our fault, because we are not stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.

Indeed, her argument makes zero sense for many other reasons. People are stealing clothing, jewelry, and electronics, not just baby formula. Are those things happening because of the child tax credit? In addition, people have been stealing baby formula for years, long before the tax credit expired.

But the underlying problem is that socialists like Ocasio-Cortez are justifying crime, and encouraging it. Rather than blaming criminals or punishing them, they are blaming the government, while absolving the vicious criminal thugs of wrongdoing.

This twisted mindset has led to a massive surge in crime, and it only seems to be getting worse.
