Police Thursday discovered two people shot dead in a Ma’ale Adumim apartment in what is believed to have been a murder-suicide.

The victims were a retired married couple.

Police opened an investigation into the incident, but an initial probe suggested the wife’s terminal illness was the reason for the shooting.

According to the report, police found a number of documents in the apartment detailing her sickness.

The Magen David Adom rescue service told Ynet it was called to the scene by neighbors who heard gunshots from the apartment shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

Paramedic Danny Richter said the husband and wife were discovered with gunshot wounds in the upper body. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
