Copiague, NY – A helicopter with two people aboard has made a “hard landing” on a residential Long Island street. No injuries were reported.
Newsday reports a flight instructor and student were on board the helicopter when it landed just before noon Wednesday in a neighborhood in Copiague (KO-peg).
Residents say it sounded as if the helicopter was sputtering before it landed.
It appears the helicopter was inbound to Republic Airport in Farmingdale when it made the emergency landing about two miles south of the airport.
The small helicopter was on its side, in the middle of the intersection.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
