Amsterdam – Rabbi Eliezer Berland, who is accused of abuse, will not be extradited to Israel from the Netherlands as the case continues to be investigated.
A late Friday afternoon fax received from Berland’s lawyer, Louis de Leon, stated that most of the cases of abuse against Berland took place outside of Israeli borders recognized by the Netherlands. Berland will stay in the Netherlands while the investigation continues, reports De Telegraaf (http://bit.ly/1vZAddX ).
A new hearing date will be set soon.
Berland was arrested at Amsterdam’s international airport in September after being on the run for two years (http://bit.ly/1y4vx1u ).
