RAMOT — In a adventure gone wrong, a 20-year-old Yeshiva student passed away after falling around 100 feet off a cliff on Monday.
Yerachmiel Yeshayahu Brecher of Ramot was on a trip with a group of friends. They were visiting an area known as “Nachal Smar” near Mitzpeh Shalom. The boys were reportedly rappelling on the mountanside when the accident occured.
According to reports of the inevstigation, it appears a rope may have ripped or otherwise malfunctioned, leaving Yerachmiel unattached. He fell approximately 100 feet. Three other boys sustained minor injuries.
Rescue crews were dispatched, and after 6 hours of work they managed to recover Yerachmiel’s body and rescue the group to safety.
Yerachmiel was the son of Dovid & Chanah Brecher.
The funeral was to be held in Israel Monday night after midnight.
