American rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, met with Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto to make amends for past antisemitic statements, according to a video published by the leading rabbinical figure’s official accounts.

“I feel really blessed to be able to sit with you today and just take accountability. I was dealing with some various issues,” said Ye.

“It’s a big deal for me as a man to come and take accountability for all the things that I’ve said, and I really just appreciate you embracing me with open arms and allowing me to make amends. And this is the beginning and the first steps.”

Ye, who since October 2022 has gone on a series of social media rants about Jews, said that he has been struggling with issues, including bipolar disorder, and ideas would take him to extremes without consideration for others.

Ye compared the effect of his condition to that of one’s child making a mess in his house. When he came home, he still had the responsibility to clean up the mess.

‘You are a very good man’

Pinto embraced Ye, and wished that only good things would happen to him from now on. He related through a translator that Judaism allowed for those who did something wrong and regret it to be able to fix it.

“You are a very good man,” Pinto said, squeezing the rapper’s hands.
