JERUSALEM — The combat teams of Brigade 401, Shayetet 13, Unit 504 (enemy interrogation) and Shin Bet forces, under the command of Division 162 and with intelligence guidance from IDF Intelligence and Shin Bet, completed a targeted operation on Saturday against terrorist targets in the area of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Northern Gaza.
The operation was launched after intelligence information indicated that the hospital precinct had resumed serving as a Hamas terror stronghold and a hiding place for terrorists, despite repeated calls to avoid the military use of medical facilities.
At the start of the operation, the combat teams of Brigade 401 surrounded the hospital, detained terrorists hiding in the area, and eliminated additional terrorists who fired at the forces.
Shayetet 13 forces operated specifically inside the hospital, locating and confiscating weapons, including grenades, pistols, ammunition, and other military equipment.
During the operation, the forces arrested over 240 Hamas and PIJ (Palestinian Islamic Jihad) terrorists, as well as additional individuals suspected of being involved in terror. Some tried to impersonate patients or medical staff, while others attempted to flee in ambulances.
Among those arrested and transferred for interrogation were the hospital director, who is suspected of being a colonel in the Hamas terror organization, terrorists from Hamas’s anti-tank and engineering units, and about 15 terrorists who participated in the murderous massacre on October 7.
In initial field interrogations by Unit 504 field investigators and Shin Bet operatives, many terrorists who had exited the hospital testified that they had been involved in terror activities in the area.
During the operation in the surrounding areas of the hospital, terrorists fired anti-tank missiles (ATGMs) and RPGs at the forces and attempted to carry out additional terror plans. There were no casualties among our forces. In a quick response, the forces eliminated the terrorists. Additionally, IDF aircraft attacked and eliminated several terrorists who tried to escape the area.
In recent weeks, a coordinated evacuation took place through the Gaza Coordination and Liaison Administration (CLA) with the Civil Administration, removing 350 patients, escorts, and staff, while also bringing in tens of thousands of liters of fuel and hundreds of packages of food and medical supplies to the Kamal Adwan Hospital.
During the operation, in coordination with Gaza CLA and health system officials, 95 patients, escorts, and medical staff were evacuated to the Indonesian Hospital. 5,000 liters of fuel, two generators, and medical supplies were delivered to maintain essential systems and operations at the Indonesian Hospital.
At the same time, hundreds of civilians were safely evacuated from the area for their security via designated routes.
