Authorities in the country believe the mechanical engineering student was murdered
Hungarian authorities reported Sunday that they had located the corpse of Israeli tourist Ofir Gross, who went missing in the country nearly two weeks ago.
Family members of Gross, who was a medical engineering student in Germany, were on their way to identify the body, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Gross, 40, from Jerusalem, dropped out of contact with his family on April 21.
Hungarian authorities said they located Gross’s body in a forest, and were investigating whether he was murdered.
His family said he was staying with a friend in the southern town of Tiszakecske, when his host suddenly had to travel to the capital, Budapest. Gross then took off to the eastern city of Debrecen, the country’s second-largest, and went missing somewhere along the way.
Gali, his sister, told Ynet last week, before the body was found, that her brother was a very competent and capable person, and that his disappearance was unexpected.
