The Israeli Foreign Ministry tweeted at the PLO Negotiation Affairs Department, extending PM Netanyahu’s invitation to meet with President Abbas; PLO-NAD responded, ‘Negotiate what exactly?’
A Twitter battle broke out between the Foreign Ministry and the Palestine Liberation Organization-Negotiation Affairs Department (PLO-NAD) Tuesday over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s invitation to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to meet him.
The Foreign Ministry tweeted at the PLO-NAD, “Mahmoud Abbas, (Prime Minister Netanyahu) is inviting you to negotiate peace…The ball is in your court now!”
The PLO-NAD responded to the Foreign Ministry’s tweet, exclaiming, “Negotiate what exactly?”
The Foreign Ministry then quickly responded, saying, “So, is that a yes or just another excuse not to open a dialogue for peace?”
Minutes later, PLO Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat joined the conversation, tweeting, “For any negotiations to succeed, signed agreements have to be implemented: End settlement activity and release prisoners. We have welcomed efforts to have negotiations based international law and UN resolutions.”
While the Foreign Ministry did not respond to Erekat’s tweet, Roseanne Barr, who spoke at Yedioth Ahronoth and Ynet’s anti-BDS conference last week, later responded to the PLO-NAD’s about what to negotiate, tweeting, ” PEACE-U STUPID BLOOD THIRSTY BASTARD.”
