Prince George’s County, MD – A Maryland police officer was fatally shot in an “unprovoked attack” at a Prince George’s County police station outside Washington, and one of two suspects was wounded when police returned fire, authorities said on Sunday.

Prince George’s County Police Chief Hank Stawinski said the suspect approached the station and opened fire at the first officer he saw. There was no apparent motive for the shooting. The slain officer was identified as Jacai Colson, a four-year veteran of the force.

The wounded suspect was taken to a local hospital and was expected to survive, Stawinski said. The second suspect was later apprehended and was being interrogated, he added.
