The Israeli PM and Palestinian President met face-to-face for the first time since 2010, at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is attending the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris, met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday, and the two leaders shook hands for the first time in five years. It was also the first time the two have met in person since September 2010.
In July, Netanyahu and Abbas spoke after a year in which they had no contact, and Netanyahu wished Abbas a happy Eid al-Fitr.
Besides the meeting with Abbas, Neyanyahu also spoke with US President Barack Obama, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, UK Prime Minister David Cameron, and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi at the conference.
Sources at the Prime Minister’s Office said that Netanyahu and Obama walked around the conference halls and spoke for 10 minutes. At the end of the talk, US Secretary of State joined them as well.
