An IDF spokesperson says that the rocket alert siren did not sound due to the assessment that the projectile would land in an open area.
A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed in an open area in Israel in the Eshkol Regional Council after midnight on Thursday.
There were no injuries or damage caused by the rocket fire.
An IDF spokesperson said that the rocket alert siren did not sound in the border area before the rocket made impact due to the army’s assessment that the projectile would land in an open area.
Since last summer’s Operation Protective Edge there has been occasional rocket fire from Gaza into Israel with resulting IDF responses sometimes coming in the wake of the attacks.
