American Airlines announced Friday that it will close its Tel Aviv-Philadelphia route in 2016.
The decision was made based on financial considerations, the airline said.

In a statement, he airline said it will assist customers who booked tickets ont he route after January 5 to book connection flights to cities in Europe in order to get to Philadelphia. Otherwise, American Airlines offered to fully refund the cost of the flight.
The airline thanked its sales office in Ramat Gan and the staff at Ben-Gurion airport.
Other airlines, however, have been expanding their flights headed to Israel. In June, El Al added direct flights to Boston to its routes, while Ryanair, one of Europe’s largest low-cost airlines, said in July that it intends to open three routes from European destinations to Eilat’s Ovda Airport starting in November.
