Community members, friends and family members of Menachem Stark gathered on Saturday night to celebrate the dedication of a new Torah scroll that was written in memory of slain philanthropist and businessman Menachem Stark.

The Hachnosas Sefer Torah was scheduled to coincide with the first anniversary of the brutal murder of Mr. Stark.

The Sefer Torah procession started at the residence of the Stark family, located at 259 Rutledge street in Williamsburg, and proceeded to the Siach Yitzchok of Lodani Synagogue located at 251 Marcy Avenue, which is the synagogue where the late Mr. Stark attended prayer services every Shabbos.

The hundreds of participants celebrated by singing and dancing in the streets during the procession, and then in the synagogue..

The new torah scroll was donated by friends and family of Mr. Stark.

After the conclusion of the sefer torah procession and the subsequent celebration in the synagogue, the participants gathered for a reception at the Pardes Tzvi ballroom.

Officers of the 90th precinct and Williamsburg Shomrim assisted with crowd control and street closures during the procession.

As previously reported, Kendel Felix, an accomplice of the abduction, is the only suspect to be arrested thus far in the probe of the abduction and murder on a cold January night in 2013.

The Kings County District Attorney’s office said that additional arrests are still to come, but refused to give a time frame.
