New York – JetBlue flew 730 officers from law enforcement agencies across the country to New York for the wake and funeral of a slain city police officer, officials said.
Spokesman Morgan Johnston says Friday the New York-based airline committed to finding space for two officers per agency that wanted to send representatives.
Johnston says officers traveled from police and sheriff’s departments big and small, departing from airports in Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Thousands have appeared at the daylong wake of Officer Rafael Ramos.
Funeral plans haven’t yet been announced for Ramos’ partner, Officer Wenjian Liu (loo).
The men were killed Dec. 20 in a brazen daytime ambush while sitting in their patrol car.
