Sarah Silverman will star in an HBO pilot “as a pathologically honest woman having a modern mid-life crisis,” Variety reported.
Silverman, who recently received the Emmy award for Best Writing for a Variety Show for her HBO comedy special “Sarah Silverman: We are Miracles.,” got the news while visiting Israel.
The untitled show will star and be exec-produced by Silverman. It will be written by Secret Diary of a Call Girl’s Lucy Prebble who will also executive produce the show. Silverman’s manager Amy Zvi will also serve as an executive producer.
On Thursday night, Silverman visited the Western Wall to participate in a Hanukah candle-lighting ceremony organized by the Women of the Wall. Silverman’s sister, Rabbi Susan Silverman, is a member of the controversial prayer group that holds a monthly ‘Rosh Chodesh’ prayer services at the Kotel.
The ceremony was held in protest to the Western Wall rabbi who rejected the group’s request to allow women to hold their own public Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony at the site. Anat Hoffman, the leader of the Women at the Wall, was quoted as saying about Silverman’s attendance that she, “joined us when I explained the absurdity of the rabbis’ position.”
“I went to the Kotel with Women of the Wall today and we lit candles and sang Hanukkah songs. I can’t believe that’s a big deal,” said Silverman, before throwing some dirty words on the Orthodox Jewish dress code.
