Several tombstones in the Jewish cemetery of Trondheim-a town in the north of Norway were vandalized last week, a Jewish newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Someone painted them with swastikas and purple paint. The inscription, “Der Furher,” the title assumed by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, was also painted on a nearby building. Police do not yet have any suspects.
This incident reflects the high level of anti-Semitism in Norway. Ervin Kohn, the president of the Jewish community of Oslo, said it held the most prejudice towards Jews out of all the Nordic countries.
