In her recently released memoirs “Hard Choices,” Hillary Clinton referred to Israel as an occupying force. She states that Israeli presence in the West Bank denies Palestinians “’dignity and self-determination.’”
Both Israeli and US officials suggested that Clinton’s comments revealed a prejudice against the Jewish nation.
Indeed, sources on Capitol Hill can cite an incident in 1999 when Clinton sat next to Yasser Arafat’s wife (Suha Arafat), with a smile on her face as the terrorist attacked Israel with anti-Semitic vitriol.
But US policies seem to echo Clinton’s sentiments in her memoir, as Washington has consistently pressured Israel to drop its claims on territory in the West Bank and Gaza.
