Syrian news agency SANA says air defenses activated after airfield in Homs province, which was struck in April, comes under attack; report not immediately confirmed by Israel.
The IDF attacked the T-4 military airfield in Homs province on Sunday evening, activating Syrian air defenses, according to the Syrian news agency SANA. There were no immediate reports of injuries as a result of the attack, while Israel did not immediately confirm.
The report comes two days after the IDF struck a Syrian military outpost after a mortar shell was fired from it at Israel. The projectile landed in the buffer zone east of the border fence between the two countries.
Syrian media also reported that air defense systems belonging to President Bashar Assad’s army managed to thwart “aggressive” activities which focused on a base in Homs.
Al Jazeera news network reported that between 4 and five rockets exploded inside the base and that damage was caused.
According to the Hezbollah-affiliated Al Mayadeen satellite channel, “defense systems succeeded in bringing down a few rockets.”

The target, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal, contained an advanced Iranian air-defense system that was recently installed.
