Tehran, Iran – A senior Iranian official touted the good relations between the Islamic Republic’s Jewish community and the government this week.

Iranian parliament vice-speaker Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard made the comments at an unveiling ceremony in Tehran for a monument to Iranian-Jewish citizens killed in the Iran-Iraq war.

“The explicit stances of the Jewish community in supporting the Islamic Republic’s establishment and their obedience to the Supreme Leader of the (Islamic) Revolution demonstrate the bonds originating from the teachings of the divine religions,” Tasnim News Agency quoted Aboutorabi-Fard as saying.

According to the report, the Iranian lawmaker also praised the country’s Jewish community for condemning the “violent and inhumane” behavior of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
